2nd movie this year! Got a pair of free movie pass today, so decided to go watch Deathnote, the pass came in a pair, but nobody was free to watch with me, so again I watched alone.

Interesting storyline, story is about a group of scientist who created a biological weapon in a form of a deadly virus and is planning to scatter the virus around the world to reduce the human population, which was affecting the earth's ecosystem adversly. One of the scientist who developed the antidote for the virus found out his teammate's plan and was against it, and so he destroyed the antivirus together with himself so that no record of the antivirus could ever be found. His daughter saw him die in front of her eyes and swore to take revenge.

Meanwhile, L, took in a boy who apparently was immune to the virus which had destroyed his village, and also the scientist's daughter. Together with the help of an FBI agent, they had to find a way to destroy the virus in the daughter's body as she injected herself with the virus, but was also immnune due to low sugar level, which kept the virus inactive in her body. However, the group of scientist managed to capture the girl and planned to take her to US to spread the virus there. Finally, L managed to get the antidote and the virus was destroyed. To cut a long story short, the group of scientist were apprehended when the police arrived and the girl and boy were safe, while L was due to die in 2 days time due to his contract with death.

My work place for ticketing.

What's in fornt of me...

... what's behind me...

... and what's next to me. :)

Today more kao siow things happened:

One elderly man came up to me to buy tickets for Ah Long, he said " I want ticket for Ah Long 3pm, give me 2 packets, uh I mean 2 tickets."

Bit my tongue to prevent myself from bursting into laughter in front of him, he think what, buying mee pok from me ah? 2 packets.

Then also came another patron, he wanted a ticket for Jumper, so I told him it was $7. Then he said "huh, need to pay ah? dont want dont want" then he walked away. Eng Wah Organization is not = Charity Orginazation ok.

Double LOL.

Stationed at ticketing counter today, and nearly screwed up the whole counter. Stupid counter has a glass partition between me and the customer, with only a small hole in front, so I have to 'huh' everytime the customer is inaudible. And I have to lean foward to scream into the customer's ear, cause of all the background music.

Then today, a customer who looked like a ah long walked up to the counter, took a look at the programme, looked back at his friends and said" Ah Long ah?"

"Ah okok Ah Long can".

"Oih, 3 tickets for Ah Long, I want back centre seats ah."

So I said " $21 altogether."

Then he took out 2 $10 notes, but I saw wrongly and saw it as 3 $10 notes, so I proceeded to give him back $9 change, then I saw another $1 coin on the table.

Then he said " wah, you want to treat me see movie ah? eh brother you ok or not?"

Damn pai say then I apologised and took his $1 coin and gave him his tickets.

"eh take care ah brother" He said before going off.

Wah, si beh kao siow.

Then also came another 2 patrons, one of them looked like a student but was not in uniform and the other looked like her mother. I asked 1 of them if she was a student or not. Then she said yes, and showed me her student pass.

"So it will be $6 for you and $7 which is the adult price for friend."

"huh. my friend is also a student. Then she showed me her student pass."

Pai say another time. Thought she was the student's mother, and nearly wanted to say $7 for your mother. Told the manager and she laugh until peng.

Tomorrow also doing ticketing, sure to encounter more funny moments.

Finally, blog! have not been blogging the past few days due to busy schedule at work, working 7 days a week, more than the full timers there.. These few days have been boring, waiting at snack bar, selling few boxes of popcorn per day, the rest of the time spent was mainly reading newspaper and talking with other staff.

Today was ok, exchanged PSP games with the small Andrew and Eric, then did usher and snack bar. Yesterday and the previous day, stationed at snack bar with Pei Jun, and the whole day she was talking and talking, her school days to when she started to have periods. What the... this kinda thing also want to tell me....

Anyway, we bought the dessert from the stall in the market, I bought chendol and she bought mango cocktail. The chendol had a funny dirty green colour and the coconut smell was very strong. Her mango cocktail, according to her, was smelly. That's all. "wah, the grape very smelly leh, the mango so little ah, how come got sand in the cocktail one?" Complain and complain.

then the next day, we decided to try out the other dessert stall. much better, but Pei Jun bought the wrong thing for me, I wanted the Uncle's homemade chocolate chendol, but she went to buy the chocolate ice kachang instead. .... And she herself bought ice jelly. Ok, the ice kachang tasted like diluted ice milo with all the jelly inside, but better than the chendol yesterday.

So, work tomorrow, and next week's gonna be another 7 day work week for me again, but will be doing ticketing.

Thats all, pay day's this thursday!

Festive period, crowds and crowds of ppl going to cinema to watch movies, that's why today was a super busy day for me, stationed at the snack bar. Cooked 3 bags of popcorn, took 2 hours and at the end I reaked of popcorn oil. Cooking the popcorn at first was fun, but got tiring and boring after a while. Anyway, sweet popcorn is cooked with 1 cup of popcorn, 2 cups of sugar and 1 spoonful of compound S, which is a mixture of sugar and a soy based product to prevent the popcorn from sticking together. While the salty popcorn is simple cooked with 1 cup of popcorn and 1 spoonful of some orange coloured powder, not salt though.

Then later when the crowds stared coming in, things got a bit busy, I was taking orders after orders and filling the popcorn into the boxes and collecting the money, while the others did the filling of drinks and cashering. One small girl came up to me and pointed to the popcorn, the she raised 1 finger. I asked her whether she wanted the sweet or salted one and I saw a big ? on her face.

So I said: :Sweet one or kiam kiam one?"

"Sweet one" was the reply.

Could hardly see her behind the counter. But so cute.

And today was the 1st time a customer wished me a Happy Chinese New Year. That really made my day.

Wednesday, February 6, 2008

Eve of Chinese New Year, ate reunion dinner with I, me and myself. Just finished work and all the shops were closed, so headed to 7-11 to grab something to eat.

Tomorrow... Holiday but what the hell. Still got work. Good thing the pay is 2x tomorrow.

Finally! I found a job that I really like, doing customer service at Eng Wah Cinemas. Started off doing ushering, then learnt how to male popcorn, managing the snack bar, and doing ticketing.

However, best part is that there are plenty of slacking times, when the movies all all running and the next show is like about 2 hours away, what we do is slack at the snack bar, have a free flow of popcorn and soft drinks, see manager around or not 1st lah. Haha, ya, and we are also paid while slacking.

One thing I really like is the flexibility of the shifts, like I can submit my own timesheet and choose when I want to work and the duration. Most of my shifts are either 930am - 630pm or 12pm - close, which is around 2am.

Then taking a taxi home after work when the bus and MRT services are not in operation, cost about $7. And it takes 1-2 months to claim back the money. gosh.

So, work tomorrow (later) at 930. Doing snack bar, lookin foward to it.

Later.
