Just submitted an entry for the free-style poetry/short stories contest. Just for fun only.
Today I saw an old man with no legs.
Sitting by the sidewalk of a shopping mall.
Hands outstretched, a bowl in his hand.
A bowl cluttering with the few coins in it.
People walked by.
Looked at him.
Scorned him.
Pitied him.
And they walked on.
The old man knew they didn't care.
He knew that was all he could do.
People came out of the mall.
Bags in hand, smiles on their faces.
They didn't notice the old man.
Sitting on the sidewalk,
looking at them enviously.
All he wanted was some money,
to have a less than decent meal,
would be good enough for him.
Today the old man,
got another chance to see,
how people take things for granted.
Today yet again,
he wished he could just be normal like them.
Today I saw how unfair life was.
Today I saw an old man with no legs.
