I ordered my new laptop today, the HP Pavilion TX2517AU. Its a tablet notebook, so its kinda small, 12". But the tablet function is perfect for my AutoCAD and photoshop processing. But since its a tablet, the processor is an AMD chipset, 2.0Ghz, which isnt very fast, and AMD chipsets are known to heat up even more than Intel. But since my Acer is using Intel Core 2 Duo, and it heats up like hell, the AMD cant be much worse.
But the graphics card is quite good, ATI HD 3200. Rendering effects will take lesser time, and watching pirated DVDs wont be such a pain in the eye, or arse.
The whole package comes with a free 2nd and 3rd year warranty as there was a student promotion going on when I ordered it. And it comes with some other free stuff which I doubt I'll be needing. Like a USB powered lamp or fan? WTH.
Oh well, 2kg will be light enough for bringing into studios in school. And small compact enough to watch a DVD, while doing my drawings, in class.
As for my current Acer, not that it sucks or anything. Ok, it sucks a lot. But if its for web surfing or just typing, its ok. But try using AutoCAD and photoshop on it and it'll start to be like a bitch. A slam on the keyboard, sending the impact right down to the HDD will be enough to make it shut the F*** up.
So my sis can have this Acer. Hopefully she'll backup her data every now and then, or else this Acer is gonna try to be funny again.
This Acer could last for 2 years. Now thats durability. For a screwed up laptop.
